Pittsburgh Solar Home with Enphase Microinverters.
Cooke House | Pittsburgh, Pa.
Solar is an integral part of the Cooke family’s urban homestead on the edge of Frick Park, from the home’s passive solar design to its 2.96-kW array with Enphase Microinverters.
The array, installed nearly two years ago by Standard Solar and Frequency Electric, is mounted on a ballasted racking system and nestled amid a roof garden.
The home includes rainwater harvesting and stormwater diversion; organic vegetable, herb and fruit production; shiitake cultivation; and composting. It’s an ideal setting for Maren Cooke’s Sustainability Salons, monthly discussions of environmental topics.
