The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) stands steadfastly with the brave people of Ukraine, victims of President Putin’s brutal invasion and unjust war. We advocate for an immediate and peaceful resolution to this conflict and support President Biden’s strong economic sanctions against the aggressors.
Our current dependence on oil, gas and coal, and rising prices across global fossil fuel markets, are costly reminders that we must aggressively continue to work towards cleaner fuel options and a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world. Here at home, we can join Ukraine in solidarity: by accelerating the transition to renewable energy, divesting from non-renewable resources, and re-investing in a transformation to a global society powered by renewable energy that is justly sourced and equitably accessible to all.
ASES advocates enacting policies that direct tax revenues derived from increased windfall earnings of fossil fuel companies toward equitable renewable energy and energy-efficiency programs that aggressively reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
