Editor:
It was both refreshing and déjà vu to read the November/December 2014 issue of SOLAR TODAY with Maureen McIntyre returning as editor. Since I got into solar energy in 1973, it has been a roller coaster ride with interest and funding going through huge cycles, much to the detriment of those making a living in the field and to the nation and the world. However, the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) staff and leadership have soldiered on and we are all thankful that skilled and talented people like Maureen are willing to come back.

Speaking of editors, I was pleased to read Maureen’s tribute to Seth Masia. He saw SOLAR TODAY through some hard times with skill and a considerate touch. We wish him well in his new position as president of the International Skiing History Association.

We are confident that ASES will weather its current financial difficulties with skilled and dedicated people at the helm and a loyal and generous membership. That said, ASES still needs support from its members, more now than anytime in the past. Please join me and chip in!
