Women’s PV Workshop (July 31-August 4)

Join us the week before the conference for a Women’s PV workshop.  Attendees will be responsible for their own accommodations and transportation. Learn how to design, size, and install a solar electric system. The workshop will be held all day from 8 am to 5 pm MT on July 31-August 4.

In the workshop, you will learn how to size a PV system, learn ways to reduce energy consumption, and have a more efficient home or business. The class will cover proper location for a PV array for maximum energy production, and how to configure stand-alone (off-grid) and grid-tie (utility-connected) systems. Learn about quality installations.   Learn safety throughout. No prior knowledge is needed.

Micah Gold-Markel, Founder of Solar States, will instruct the class. Micah has completed over 700+ solar projects since 2008 as their mission is to educate and install solar.

Why women only? According to Zippia, only 5.5% of all solar installers are women, while 94.5% are men in the US.  This is a chance for women to work together and empower each other in a non-competitive atmosphere, on the design of a PV system, the use of power tools, and the installation of a fully functional solar electric system. The five-day workshop is Monday through Friday, roughly 8am to 5pm each day. The workshop is limited to 18 women.

Thank you to those who attended the 2023 Women’s PV Workshop! We worked together to build a solar array at Dharmas Garden. The solar array and battery now power a well pump that will help the farm to better irrigate its crops. We also worked in the classroom At the University of Colorado Boulder, discussing electrical theory, code, and solar calculations.
