Gainesville Solar Tour

Tour Description: On Saturday October 18, 2008 from 12PM-2PM, ASES at UF and SolarCity Gainesville will offer Gainesville residents the opportunity to come and talk to local solar installers as well as other businesses in the renewable energy field at UF’s Energy research park on SW 23rd Terrace between Archer Road and Williston. Also on display will be numerous forms of alternative transportation ranging from hybrid cars to solar-powered tricycles. From 2PM-5PM residents will be welcomed and encouraged to participate in self-guided tours of local homes and businesses implementing solar energy.

Instructions forTaking This Tour: Meet at the University of Florida's Energy Park located at 2610 SW 23rd Terrace for a map of homes on the tour at 12pm or later. While there feel free to check out alternative vehicles or talk to local solar and sustainable companies. Remember the tour ends at 5pm.

Florida Solar Energy Center- Cocoa

Tour Description: Visitors will have an opportunity to explore the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), one of the most energy-efficient commercial buildings in the world. Tour guides will point out some of the features that can be adopted by homeowners and businesses to make their buildings more energy efficient.
Tours will include an insider's view of the wide range of research projects conducted at FSEC on hydrogen and fuel cells, buildings and energy efficiencies, the environment, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy and alternative transportation systems.
